Mission and Vision
IIT Indore aims to play an active role in this task of propelling India on her growth-trajectory by focusing on education, research and development. IIT Indore visualizes this mission within the context of larger humanistic concerns.

Upcoming Campus
IIT Indore's permanent campus will be located at Simrol which is a small village in Mhow Tehsil in district of Indore. The site for IIT Indore is about 20 km from Indore city centre, connected to it by the state highway, Khandawa Road. The state government has identified over 500 acres of land for the institute's development. The pre-construction activities have been completed including contour survey, soil-investigation, water resistivity survey, etc. and construction of the boundary wall has begun. It is expected that IIT Indore will have its infrastructure sufficiently ready so that the Institute can shift to its permanent campus by 2013.

The Temporary Campus and Institute Facilities
Currently, IIT Indore is functioning from the premises of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) on Khandwa Road which is 4 km. from the city centre. This campus has complete modern academic facilities including modern classrooms with sophisticated audio-video teaching aids, a modern computer centre, ever expanding Central Library, well-equipped UG Chemistry and Physics laboratories that were developed last year and probably are amongst the best of the undergraduate laboratories in the country.

The institute offers a 4-year B. Tech. program in (i) Computer Science and Engineering, (ii) Electrical Engineering and (iii) Mechanical Engineering, with an intake of 40 seats (20 for general category, 11 for OBC category, 6 for SC category, and 3 for ST category) in each branch and PhD programmes in the three engineering disciplines, HSS, and Basic Sciences. The institute has developed its own new academic curriculum for UG and PhD students and implemented it from academic year 2010-11 onwards. As a part its commitment to strengthen collaboration with acclaimed international Institutes, IIT Indore has signed MoU with Saarland University, Saarbrucken, Germany. The partnership allows the two Institutes to exchange students and faculty members and explore new methods of cooperation in instruction and joint research.

Campus Life

IIT Indore is fully residential with hostel facility provided to the students. The hostels have common rooms for recreational activities of the students. Mess and canteen facilities are also available. Formal bus transport facility is provided to students to shuttle between hostel and institute at regular intervals throughout the day. A 24-hour Ambulance in case of emergency is also available.

Sports activities are essential part of IIT Indore life to bring freshness and recreation during busy academic schedule. The Institute has developed sports facilities around its temporary campus to promote sports, such as football, volleyball, badminton, basketball and table-tennis. Athletic tracks at DAVV campus are used for athletic events. Sports facilities in and around Indore are being used for regular practice of sports like cricket, swimming and tennis. The IITI Girl became the Fastest Girl in the Inter-IIT sports meet held at IIT Delhi during December 2010 by winning gold medal in 100 m race. The institute is also building a gymnasium with state of the art facilities for the students.

Indore is the commercial capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh. It has become one of the busiest and most advanced business hubs in India. These industries range from Automobile to Pharmaceutical and from Software to Retail. Pithampur, major industrial areas surrounding the city, is also known as the Detroit of India.

Over the years Indore has also grown as one of the major education centers in the country, which can be seen from the fact that Indore is the only city in India to have an Indian Institute of Management and an Indian Institute of Technology.

Due to its central Indian location, it has a moderately extreme climate with cold winters, sometimes as low as 10 °C and very hot summers, sometimes reaching up to 45 °C

Deoguradia - The monolithic rock temple, Lal Bagh Palace -A palace spread across 200 acres now museum and Rajwada - A seven-storey palace are some of the major tourist attractions. It also has some of the best shopping destinations in the country. City has got a lot of malls and retail markets, Treasure Island Mall and Globus Super Store are main malls of Indore.

Indore is well connected to all the major cities of India via railways. Indore has got Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, from which flights are available for Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jabalpur Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Pune, Raipur and Srinagar.
